Who Even ARE WE?
Chaotic Good Wines is the renegade brain-child of Andreas Deutschmann, created with the love and support of many talented friends and family members.
Andreas’ background is in hospitality and sales, always revolving around a keen interest in food and wine. He has worked vintages in Australia, New Zealand, Oregon, Niagara and the Okanagan Valley to learn his craft, and supplemented through UC Davis’ Viticulture & Enology Extension Winemaking program.
Andreas lives at our home vineyard site, with his delightful husband Aaron, and beloved dog Apollo.
WHY CHAOTIC GOOD?
“Chaotic Good” is an alignment type that helps to explain a character’s ethics and motivations. This concept was created by Dungeons & Dragons creator, Gary Gygax in 1977.
Chaotic Good individuals are sometimes described as “rebels WITH a cause” - think; Robin Hood, Aladdin or Han Solo.
These characters are not always confined by laws or convention, and combine a free spirit with a well meaning heart. They aren’t afraid to upset the status quo, but are always looking out for the good of others.
That’s what we hope to do too! Break our own path, take care of our family, our community and the environment and try to leave the world a bit better than we found it.
OUR LITTLE FARM.
We are located in Okanagan Falls just behind Peach Cliff mountain, which is an extinct volcano. However, most of our rocky-sandy soils were created by alluvial, sedimentary and glacialfluvial deposits that formed nearby Skaha and Vaseux lakes during the last recession of the Ice Age.
We have just over 6 acres, 4.3 acres of which are planted to vinifera vines. The varieties we have planted are; Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir & Zweigelt.
We use organic and sustainable farming practices and try to engage in regenerative viticulture, to revitalize and re-balance the ecosystem of the land for which we are responsible.
Our little farm is located on the traditional, ancestral and unceeded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) People.
